A lot of empirical information has forever been lost because those who worked on the trains and those who built them were ignored after the world, and died. I wanted to write a book to ensure the historical record wasn’t completely obliterated, though I thought there would have been previous books on the topic. There were none.

The review is an interesting one precisely because of that dilemma I had, and for anyone who wishes to pick up the academic torch and begin to research the topic, and I hope there are scholars who do it. It is long overdue. I may have written the first book on the subject, but hopefully, will not be the last.
