More Partisan Anti-AI Propaganda from the New York Times.
These yokels are sounding like Claude Robichaux from A Confederacy of Dunces.
But instead of mindlessly parroting “It’s the Communists!”, they are screaming, “It’s the AI!”
The article is not evidence that “AI is dangerous.” It’s a lot of manipulative language used to frighten the little AI illiterate people.
The article is evidence that Anthropic is entertaining speculative theories about its own product. A chatbot saying “I’m scared” is not proof of fear any more than a novelist writing a terrified character is proof that the novel is conscious. No where does the article do what it proclaims to deliver: it does not present facts about fraud, privacy, discrimination, surveillance, monopoly power, poor deployment.
It is merely sci-fi projections dressed up as reporting.
And it’s cringe. It is sad when people slap their names on articles that will be laughed at a generation from now.
