More Hooey Spewing from the King of Melodramatic Overkill.
Propaganda time!

Now, this bill is a bunch of hooey. As it is typical with the Canadian government, you make a toothless law with more loopholes than Swiss cheese and make sure the government get lots of money and can bloat the public sector just enough to secure more votes in dodgy ridings.
But Culture Minister Marc Miller’s Reefer Madness shrieking is hilarious. Let’s quote some of his nincompoopity:
“We’re failing our children. Enough is enough,” Miller said. “We need basic protection in place so every child in this country can be safe on platforms they use every day.”
As the interactive documentary The Real Risk points out, this argument has no merit. If Miller actually cared about kids, they would go after abusive parents and child molesters directly, but they don’t. They would fight against poverty, but they don’t. They would make sure there weren’t any homeless children, but they don’t.
But there are so many loopholes to make this law a joke. This is a government who wants pretend to do something without having to actually do it. It’s theatre.
As usual.
