Yet Another Serbian Protest

,

Protests are the worst form of change. It means something already happened and you’re reacting to it. When it becomes the norm, it means the protestors and their organizers still don’t get it, and keep doing the same thing and expect a different outcome.

Worse, you’re expecting someone else to clean up the mess and cater to you out of the goodness of their hearts.

That’s not realistic.

When I was in my late teens, I went to protests, and quite a few: in Hamilton, Ottawa, and Toronto. Some were targeted at municipal governments, provincial, and federal.

I also wrote letters.

Not one of these actions did a thing, and once I realized how useless they were, I switched my methods.

And it made a far bigger impact.

Proactive measures go a long way. Reactive measures are a non-starter.

Why?

Because when you stop things before they ever have the chance to form, you’re not impacted and no habit or reinforcement can corrupt people in charge.

So Serbian protestors have a lot of growing up to do. If you want change, and not an excuse, then learn the system and work from there.
