History is clear on this matter: the last politician who was this divisive in this manner was Toronto mayor Rob Ford, and we don’t talk about him anymore. Spectacle isn’t power. It’s desperation, and when you stoop to Jesusfying your image and then disown it, you know you’re not dealing with a real leader. He wears a paper crown and deals in Monopoly money.
