RTO was always sanctioned economic terrorism against white collar workers. The first steps to a walk back have begun.
People should work from home in a manufactured oil crisis? You don’t say!

The International Energy Agency states the obvious.
Some of it, anyway.
RTO should have never been allowed. You have the technology to allow remote work, use it. RTO was malicious and incompetent managers who memorized a script to disallow workers any freedom or independence: the point is to stress them enough and inconvenience them enough that they run on a hamster wheel and feel subservient as they do so. Forget that spaceship when that horse and buggy keeps your workers under your thumb.
And now with gratuitous waste of money, that spaceship is being taken out of the attic and dusted off.
With AI and video conferencing, there is no excuse not to have remote work. People are happier and more productive, but overlords hate people having a support system and happiness because when you are relaxed, you can step back and see how badly you’re being exploited.
Remember, there is less turnover and more worker satisfaction and productivity when workers can do the job from home.
So why would companies do the opposite?
Because it’s about control, not about having a better company.
No raises, but gas prices have shot up.
And with a weak job market and plenty of mass layoffs, we can see the disaster of RTO.
Play stupid games; win stupid prices.
