Pope Leo: Worthy Journalism Instructor
I am neither American nor Catholic, but I found this fascinating.

And what Pope Leo said was sound: he urged journalists “to show the face of war and tell it through the eyes of the victims, so as not to turn it into a video game.”
He also said: “In the dramatic circumstances of war, such as those we are experiencing, information must guard against the risk of turning into propaganda,” and that reporters must work “in verifying the news so as not to become a megaphone of power.”
This is absolutely true and refreshingly subversive. I doubt most j-school students ever got this lecture from their professors.
But it’s interesting and welcome nonetheless.
