Understanding ICE, Alex Pretti, and the Press
The editorial board at the Wall Street Journal had an extraordinary insight. Flawed, but shocking nonetheless.

To understand the dynamics of this travesty, it is important to understand the three core literacies: Emotional, Analytical, and Primal. When our thinking is harmonized, we have more information we can see, and more context to understand what that information means. That’s the normal, but often, people skirt on a single literacy, and then think being uniliterate is part of their “personality” and is somehow superior to being multi-literate.
So, with that in mind, let’s break down what happened and why.
Alex Pretti was an emotional thinker and an analytical thinker. He was you-centred in his approach. He was a nurse and had academic articles published. But when push came to shove, he reacted with the emotional. He had empathy, and he worried about the well-being of others.
He did nothing wrong. He was bi-literate, and out of all the players here, he was the most literate.
Now, he saw a woman in distressed because an ICE agent pepper-sprayed her and she fell to the ground. He was trying to help and shield someone who was in pain and vulnerable. That’s not just his training as a nurse: that’s who he was as a person. He also was smart enough to keep his smart phone recording.
So Pretti wasn’t “foolish”. He wasn’t wrong. He wasn’t bad. His instinct was to help another person.
The ICE agents, on the other hand, weren’t analytical or emotional. They are uni-literate primal thinkers. The hiring of these primal thinkers was just a way for the White House to reward their base with make-work jobs suited to their primal literacy; however, uni-literate primal thinkers are the last people you want in that position.
The ICE agents wanted to thump their chests and show they had the power to completely subjugate others. Primals see organic plurality as a threat to their tribe.
And here was a man who wasn’t breaking or bowing to them: he tended to a woman they harmed. He shielded her and was protecting her from them.
These primal thinkers could not stand it. Pretti was supposed to cower, not point out their cowardice in pepper-spraying a non-violent non-threat.
So these are me-centered primal thinkers. It’s all about them. Why didn’t they try to break up a dangerous gang with weapons or anyone who was an actual threat to the taxpayers who foot their bill?
But these primal thinkers live in the now: they don’t think about the past to learn basic history, or think about the future. They are emotionally illiterate; so they had no idea what Pretti was doing, but they are also analytically illiterate, forgetting that people have the means to record their every word and movement.
So they executed a man who posed no threat to them. He didn’t point a gun at them: he recorded them, but they thought they could kill a man with impunity. Once Pretti tended to the woman, they should have walked away. Checking on someone is distress is not a crime.
Once they killed Pretti, the clumsy clean-up detail began with what uni-literate primal people do: slap on the slander and insults that emphasize the “big threat” they heroically took down, calling Pretti a “domestic terrorist”, and made one whopper after another…except the evidence made them sound like jumpy and incompetent fibbers trying to save their cushy jobs.
Except not even analytical thinkers were going to pretend to believe them.

So inept was their crisis management strategy that their regular media cheerleaders would have none of it.
The Wall Street Journal still blamed the victim, calling Pretti foolish and making a mistake. Why? Because they are uni-literate, but analytical. They don’t consider that Pretti, despite being pepper-sprayed himself was more concerned about someone’s else’s well-being; however, the chasm between analytical thinkers and primal thinkers are too great for there to be a long-lasting alliance. Note the analytical thinkers saw flaw with both the emotional thinker and the primal thinkers, but, in the end, they judged that the primal thinkers were the 0 and the emotional thinker was the 1.
It took the abuse and execution of the emotional thinker to break the spell.

Primal thinkers cannot hold on to power. This is not the global scaffolding, and neither is the analytical. It is emotional.
And this is why this regime will crumble as did the analytical one. Neither has the currency to bring on a new, globally prosperous era.
