The federal Liberals want to keep their power and control through censorship and propaganda.

I guess Mark Carney doesn’t want Canadians to know that he is a weasel.

And he has been a weasel making his way through the chicken coop: muscled his way to being the leader of a federal party with zero political experience, eked out a minority, got proxies to give goodies to opposition MPs to cross the floor, and now, without a referendum or mandate, wants Canadian taxpayers to fund having membership in the EU.

The EU has an absolute fixation on regulating the Internet, and the EU has had its eye on Canada for quite a while.

So what does Canada do? Dutifully march lockstep with the EU’s demands regardless of the consequences.

Does control freaking the Internet work? Don’t be silly, of course it doesn’t. Propaganda is not a long-term solution to anything and it doesn’t stop a pendulum from swinging the other way.

There is one factor that determines how content, and hence, docile, masses will be: financial prosperity. If they can pay their bills and have disposable income, they won’t give you any grief.

But politicians don’t like that: they like lording over the little people, controlling and manipulating them, and making them shake in their boots. Politicians are incompatible with mass economic prosperity. They manufacture crisis after crisis to deflect attention away from their incompetence and then come up with “policies” to “solve” the problem.

The US did extraordinarily well when both Bill Clinton and Donald Trump were facing impeachment. They were too busy trying to save their own backsides to meddle with their ideas.

The more you try to control something, the more out of control it becomes. Mother nature doesn’t like a control freak with a god complex.

It would have been far better to deal with the US in a force way with actual and immediate consequences. That’s basic psychology. No threats, just a good old fashioned, “No electricity for you!” and carry it through. That alone would have undermined Donald What’s His Face’s narrative of Canada not being needed or being scam artists getting more from the US than the other way around.

But that would have quickly solved the problem and no politician likes a simple fix.

They have to justify their free ride somehow, and that’s their bottom line.

And no, regulating the Internet will hide that truth from thinking people.
