The peasant has spoken.

“Oil prices are temporarily high and will be falling dramatically as soon as that war is over,” the president said Saturday, referring to the conflict with Iran. “There’s so much oil, all in the Strait [of Hormuz]. There are so many ships. We’ll get them out so fast. The United States oil and gas business is making hundreds of billions of dollars.”

In other words, he is making money for the Billionaire Economy at the expense of the Middle-Class Economy, so screw you.

He tried to inoculate himself, knowing full well he was committing political suicide:

“I can just see the fake headlines. President Trump is talking about all the money they’re making while people are suffering at the pump,” Trump said, predicting the coverage of his rally that evening. “I don’t give a damn. We’re making a freaking fortune.”
He added that his “people” told him, “Please don’t mention that, sir.”

Trump is a braggart who is obtuse to nuance, and doesn’t have the ability to think. What he essentially said was, “Well, I am making the rich even richer, so you should be thanking me, you peasants!”

The US isn’t making a “ton of money”: it is a redistribution of wealth at the expense of the voters. No new money is coming into the US: Trump essentially admitted that he has imposed yet another tax on Americans the way he is with tariffs.

“I’m making you poor so that corporations and the government can be richer!” is not an effectively rallying cry.

And he has given the Democrats a gift nine days before the election.

He can’t spin this to his advantage.

And saying that he expects gas prices to fall after the war is over? Yeah sure. That war was supposed to be wrapped up months ago.

Trump has claimed that the war is over, almost over, or that the U.S. has achieved total victory more than 100 times since the conflict began on February 28, 2026.

It hasn’t. It has gone on for eight months.

And now he has admitted that the government and Big Oil have no incentive for that war to end.

Trump has absolutely lost the plot. He is a liability to the Republican Party.

But he is the gift who keeps on giving up more Senate and Congressional seats to the Democrats.
