The Ontario Tories are Stepping in Every Cow Flap in the Field and Insisting Each One is a Stepping Stone.

,

Doug Ford has a Doug Ford problem.

He manages to skirt responsibility and deflect attention by using the old “Yay, Canada!” gambit, but his party is not doing themselves any favors.

Let’s go over the facts, shall we?

The Ontario government has filed a lawsuit against a company it contracted to run a student mental health program, alleging fraudulent misrepresentation and seeking to recoup more than $25 million in public money.

Ontario alleges Keel Digital Solutions, through its subsidiary Get A-Head Inc., inflated the number of counselling sessions it reported delivering to students, resulting in overpayments of millions of dollars. The company vigorously denies the allegations.

And this:

Opposition parties are crying foul over a growing list of companies that have received grants from a multi-billion-dollar Ontario government fund, and whose directors or executives have also made sizable political donations to the governing Progressive Conservative party.

Also this:

GPS Education is one of dozens of companies now facing public scrutiny for allegedly using recruiters to steer people toward OSAP by emphasizing financial gain over educational opportunities. GPS Education is also linked with a company that operates a group of private career colleges at the centre of the Ford government’s OSAP controversy, The Trillium has confirmed.

So now we are down to this little factoid:

Ontario will import power from the United States this winter, the province’s independent electricity operator has announced, just a few months after Premier Doug Ford threatened to cut exports to the U.S. amid the ongoing trade war.

Because there is more than one explanation, and none of them are good.

I don’t assume that Ontario needs US electricity.

I don’t assume anything because this government has made secrecy about its workings into law.

So whatever they say, you cannot trust it.
