Yeah, There Is a Reason Why AI Frightens the Overlords and They Don’t Want the Little People to Use It.

Which is a very good thing.

People need information. That’s the entire point of journalism: to inform people. Journalists often cite “ethics” as the reason for censorship, but they don’t exactly use empirical standards to define what ethics actually means.

But this goes to a larger issue: AI excels at uncovering patterns.

And that’s not what billionaires want the little people to be able to do. They want to keep their secrets secret because if middle and working class people found out, it would cause trouble.

Add in that AI makes the C-Suite obsolete, it makes the technology a great equalizer and humbler.

We have countless psychological studies on what makes poor and middle class people tick. We don’t have empirical studies on what makes the superrich tick. AI can do the next best thing: uncover the hidden patterns and codify it.

It can tease out counter-intelligence training, for instance. It can figure out which consultants have whose ear.

It can give a roadmap that journalists have traditionally been unable or unwilling to give.

That’s powerful tool to have.

And there is nothing wrong with balancing the scales.
