Well, well, isn’t this disgraceful?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hamilton has been falling into an abyss for a very long time, and their local government and public sector workers have proven to be…not suited for the job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both those parasitic institutions whinge and whine for more money as they sashay on the Sunshine List.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city will browbeat you if you want extra garbage tags, but when it comes to actually cleaning up the city, well, let’s just say they turn the other way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A homelessness crisis, a drug crisis, an economic meltdown…and crime is also out of control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was born and raised in Hamilton. As a teen, I would go shopping, dine, and get my hair done at Jackson Square. I went to the Farmer’s Market and went to the library to do research: first as a student, and then as an author.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don’t even drive by anymore. It’s not about the safety. I used to walk in downtown Chicago and New York City in the middle of the night, and people there thought I was a plainclothes police officer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s about watching a city rot and knowing its keepers are incapable of doing a thing about it, nor do they even want to try: no one is holding them accountable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I sold my house in Hamilton a decade ago. I did the math and knew this was a doomed city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I didn’t always feel this way. I went to university in Hamilton. I worked for local media outlets. I had an art studio there. I taught at the local college as a Language Studies professor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then I divested. Physically, and emotionally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
