These verticals are deliberately made to exploit poor girls in China. I know because I applied for a job as a true crime<\/em> screenwriter for one company. I had no idea the country of origin (not that I would turn down a job from a Chinese company because I wrote children’s stories for one years before, also not knowing it was Chinese-based. I liked the job, the boss who was exceptionally kind and professional, and the pay; so I freelanced for them for a spell, and no, there was nothing nefarious or propagandistic about the stories. They were about doing your best, being kind, and solving problems such as getting a job).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, I was promised one thing, but then came the real half. The stories all had to be the same: poor girl meets rich boy and she gets to take the easy way out. It was made clear that “there were a lot of poor girls in China”, so they were easy pickings. The exploitation was that <\/em>brazen, never mind you are fostering psychopathy and preventing girls from seeing that hard work and education is the better route to go. But hey, we can get rich on those poor, dumb girls who won’t have a hope in hell!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike my previous job, I did not like this one. So I bowed out. I was there for a short spell before the other shoe dropped, and I dropped it. It left a bitter taste in my mouth; so this news doesn’t come as much of a surprise to me. I am just surprised the crackdown didn’t happen years sooner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
