I am not much into political theatre. Speeches, like press conferences, are canned events with little to no news value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney gave a speech that caused<\/a> reporters<\/a> to notice it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Except they noticed all the wrong things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First of all, the current disruption is temporary. <\/em>In 2020, COVID-19 theatre seemed to be something permanent, but none of the players or the policies remained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This, too, shall pass, and most likely sooner rather than later. The house of cards is already falling. The elite panic is very telling, however.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But what journalists missed in Carney’ speech<\/a> is quite amusing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And he used the phrase no less than four times <\/em>in a single speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you’re still too obtuse to see it, it is the phrase American hegemony<\/strong> <\/em>and its derivatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is not the talk of a G7 country. This is common parlance of a BRICS<\/em><\/strong> nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
