The Baltimore Sun is leaving its majestic building on Calvert Street as it downsizes.
It was a grand Art Deco building, and that prime piece of real estate was sold for over $15 million.
There is a lot of spin about how times have changed, and needs have changed.
We have places such as Apple, Google, and Facebook have large corporate campuses.
What we are seeing is asset-squeezing: media companies having to sell their prime assets, and that was as prime as it gets.
But they are not the only ones. Major papers such as the Globe and Mail and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer have done the same. It is a sign of the times, and we will be seeing more of it in the coming months...
